A suspected quack doctor, Idris Nasiru, has been arrested by the Ondo State Police Command for allegedly running an illegal clinic in Ore Local Government Area.
The 25-year-old suspect was apprehended during an intelligence-led operation conducted by the Command’s Surveillance Team.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Nasiru is not a registered medical practitioner, confirming that the clinic was being run unlawfully.
During a thorough search of the clinic, operatives recovered several medical items, including packs of injection needles, medical drips, bandages, and assorted medical kits, believed to have been used in the illegal operation.
A subsequent search of the suspect’s residence, carried out with a duly signed search warrant, led to the recovery of used injection bottles, needles, and syringes, further confirming the unlawful medical activities.
The Command’s spokesperson, Abayomi Jimoh, said the operation was part of intensified efforts to dismantle medical-related criminal networks across the state.
He added that the suspect has made useful statements while in custody and will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, highlighted the importance of intelligence-led policing in disrupting criminal activities and reassured residents of the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of lives and property.
He also expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for his leadership and support in strengthening public safety and tackling medical-related crimes.
The Command urged members of the public to cooperate by providing credible information to aid the fight against crime and advised residents to exercise caution when seeking medical services, remaining vigilant to avoid falling victim to quacks. The Command affirmed its resolve to eradicate medical crimes in all forms across the state.
