Former United States President, Barack Obama, has condemned the fatal gun attack on activist, Charlie Kirk, who collapsed while addressing a crowd during a public event.
Obama described the attack on Kirk an act of despicable violence and hostility and a disregard to human life which has no place in a democratic society.
On his X handle, the former elected leader who called for outright investigation over the matter, commiserated with the family of the casualty.
Extracts from Obama’s post reads, ”We don’t yet know what motivated the person who shot and killed Charlie Kirk, but this kind of despicable violence has no place in our democracy. Michelle and I will be praying for Charlie’s family tonight, especially his wife and their two young children.”
Kirk was addressing a crowd under a tent when he was struck after which blood gushed out from his neck. He was thereafter rushed away on a stretcher by his security aides for medical intervention after which he died in a hospital.
