NYSC begins N77,000 allowance payment to Corp members

After weeks of intense pressure, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has finally announced that corps members will receive a new monthly allowance of N77,000, effective March 2025.

This development follows the Federal Government’s promise six months ago to increase the allowance, which had been delayed due to funding challenges.

The increased allowance, which marks an N44,000 rise, aims to support corps members in coping with economic pressures and meeting their basic needs during their service year.

The Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, disclosed that the Scheme is part of President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s efforts to improve the welfare and well-being of corps members.

During an interaction with corps members at the Wuse and Garki NYSC Zonal Offices in Abuja on Thursday, General Nafiu commended their selfless service to the nation and advised them to remain calm, dedicated, focused, and disciplined.

General Nafiu added that the NYSC is a beautiful scheme that builds bridges and exposes graduate youths to diverse cultural values, fostering understanding and appreciation of places beyond their birthplaces.

Furthermore, he emphasized that the Management will continue to instill essential virtues in successive batches of Corps Members, including patriotism, discipline, self-restraint, and leadership qualities.

“With effect from March, you are going to receive the sum of Seventy-Seven Thousand Naira as your monthly allowance. NYSC is good at record keeping and l can assure you that your money will be paid. The Nation and the Scheme appreciate you”, he said.
