Nollywood actress, Aisha Lawal, has threatened to drag a chieftain of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Abdul-Azeez Abiola, popularly called Istijabah, before court for allegedly defaming her within the country and abroad.
Lawal said that Abiola defamed her after he alleged that she received a car gift from the former Lagos NURTW chairman, Musiliu Akinsanya, also known as MC Oluomo, saying this is not true, and I will allow the law to take its course.
The actress made the threat while debunking claims made in a viral video by the NURTW chieftain that she received a Toyota Venza from MC Oluomo as a birthday gift.
In a video shared on her social media handle, Lawal firmly denied the claim, stating that she has never owned, driven, or received a Toyota Venza from anyone, including MC Oluomo.
“Initially, I didn’t want to say anything about this matter. This matter has been flying around… This crappy matter has been flying around. But I realized it is crucial I say something because of my customers, friends and family. If I don’t say anything, people will assume that it is true,” she said.
“I’m sure the person who made this allegation against me must have been called by someone to tell him it isn’t true but he doesn’t want to retrace his steps because he feels I, Aisha Lawal, is just an actress, an ordinary woman, and there’s nothing I can do.”
“Now concerning the matter of Venza, I Aisha Lawal Oldunni have never ridden a Venza, neither have I bought a Venza and I have never gifted anyone a Venza,” she stated.
She, meanwhile, challenged anyone with proof of when and how she received a car from MC Oluomo to come forward and testify, adding That has never been my car, my friends know I don’t ride a car like that.
Dismissing the allegation further, she boasted that a Venza is beneath her current standard.
“Venza is even smaller than the present level of the kind of car I’m driving. I don’t even like Venza,” she added.
Lawal stressed that she is not close to MC Oluomo and therefore finds the claim of receiving such a gift from him laughable.
Earlier, Istijabah, in a video monitored by The Guild correspondent, accused MC Oluomo of squandering the union’s resources on Nollywood female celebrities, alleging that loyal members were plunged into financial distress to fund the former chairman’s lavish lifestyle.
“Aisha Lawal benefited from a Venza I worked hard to pay for, while MC Oluomo kept on pressuring us into debt to impress his Nollywood ladies,” Istijabah said in Yoruba.
He went on to express regret over not reclaiming the vehicle after seeing the actress display it online.
“If not that I’ve forgotten about it, I would have collected my car. The other day, I saw her posting that car smiling. I was like ah-ah, this life!”
