The Nigerian Army has announced the commencement of applications for the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) Course 29/2026, inviting eligible Nigerians to apply for commission as officers.
The Army said the DSSC programme is open to both civilians and serving military personnel who possess relevant professional qualifications, noting that successful applicants will be commissioned into specialised corps to support national defence and security operations.
According to the Army, applications for the DSSC 29/2026 will be conducted online and are free of charge, with interested candidates advised to apply early and ensure that all required information is correctly submitted.
In a statement obtained from the Nigerian Army’s X handle on Tuesday, the application portal will be open from January 7 to February 4, 2026, while additional details and guidelines are available on the official recruitment website at recruitment.army.mil.ng.
The statement read: “The available corps include the Nigerian Army Engineers, Nigerian Army Signals, Nigerian Army Medical Corps, Nigerian Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, and the Nigerian Army Education Corps.”
“Applications are free of charge and must be completed online. Interested candidates are advised to apply early and ensure that all required information is correctly submitted.”
The Nigerian Army further advised applicants seeking clarification to contact the recruitment help lines on 08179269294 or 08109959294 between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. daily.
The Army encouraged qualified Nigerians with the required skills and professional background to take advantage of the opportunity to serve the nation.
