Nigeria embassy shuts down activities over coronavirus in London

By NewsDesk,

The Nigerian High Commission in London has announced that it is set to shut down all activities from Wednesday, and that its doors would be closed to the public until further notice.

The country’s foreign embassy, which made the disclosure through an urgent notice on its official website, explained that the decision was taken due to the global coronavirus pandemic and the need for it to put safety of staff, officials and the people it served into consideration.

While offering apologies for the inconveniences which its decision would cause the people, the embassy, which did not disclose date for resuming of operations, said that it had shut down activities in keeping with directives by the United Kingdom government, and with aim to help curb further spread of the deadly coronavirus in the country.

The high commission, through a statement released on Tuesday through the Chancery Head, Rose Yakowa-Okoh, listed its hot-lines and email addresses through which some of its services could continue being rendered pending the time that full operations could be resumed.
