By Mary Odeh

The Niger State Government has lifted the restriction on the movement of motorcycles and tricycles in Minna metropolis between 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., following significant improvement in the security situation.

The decision was taken after a comprehensive review by the State Security Committee and subsequently approved by Governor Mohammed Bago.

The approval was formally announced by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Abubakar Usman, through a public statement, detailing how the decision was reached after sustained security assessments.

Usman said the earlier restriction, introduced as a proactive measure to curb crime and protect lives and property, had effectively achieved its objectives, leading to improved public safety.

He commended security agencies for their professionalism and residents for their patience, cooperation and understanding during the enforcement period.

While restoring normal movement, the government urged security agencies and the public to remain vigilant and strictly comply with all traffic and safety regulations.

Motorcycle and tricycle operators were advised to conduct their activities in a lawful, orderly and responsible manner, stressing that peace and security remain a shared responsibility.

The government also expressed appreciation to residents of Minna for their resilience and support, noting that their cooperation was instrumental in consolidating the peace currently enjoyed in the metropolis.
