Authorities in New Zealand have restricted activities at his embassy in Iran over security issues in the middle-east country.
The New Zealand government shut down the embassy citing worsening security situation in Iran, disclosing that all its staff had left the embassy safely on an overnight flight, adding that their operations have now been shifted to Ankara in Turkey.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade held that providing assistance to its citizens in the Arabis country has now been extremely limited due to, adding that it has become difficult for them to contact their families back home.
The Foreign Minister, Winston Peters, the country was appalled by the escalation of violence and oppression in Iran after which he condemned the crackdown in the country’s security forces, recalling the occurrences of killings of protesters.
”We continue to advise against all travel to Iran,” Peters, said on Friday.
”We condemn the brutal crackdown being carried out by Iran’s security forces, including the killing of protesters. Any New Zealander currently in the country should leave now,” he added.
”New Zealand has expressed serious concerns directly to the Iranian embassy in Wellington, and would continue to do so,” the minister concluded.
