The Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, has debunked rumours of defection from the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, stating that he remains committed to the development of the state under the flagship of the political party.
Mutfwang affirmed his allegiance with the PDP, terming the allegations as ”blatant lie” and ”poorly scripted fabrication” created by mischief makers to cause disunity in the party and state at large.
In a statement issued by the Director of Press and Public Affairs to the Governor, Gyang Bere, the government stated that the Governor has not been under any form of pressure of defecting to another party and had not been his intention.
The statement released on Thursday added that the state leader and his associates are exploring alternatives to ensure resolve of all internal issues in the party, adding that any change in the Governor’s political status will be communicated adequately.
”Let it be stated without ambiguity, this claim is a blatant lie, a shameless concoction peddled by desperate mischief makers whose only intent is to stoke disaffection, sow confusion and mislead the peace loving citizens of Plateau State,” the statement reads.
”The Governor remains fully focused and unwavering in his commitment to delivering dividends of democracy to the people of Plateau as seen in his people-centered projects and development initiatives,” it added.
The government urged residents and necessary stakeholders to jettison the rumour and stay vigilant against misinformation, warning all perpetrators of the act to desist or face necessary prosecution.
