Two young men met a tragic end after they were beaten to death by an irate mob for allegedly stealing a motorcycle.
An eyewitness said the suspects were caught in the act and given no chance to escape as angry youths quickly chased and descended on them.
The attackers, believed to be local “area boys,” pursued the suspects, cornered them, and unleashed a brutal assault that left both dead before security operatives could arrive.
The incident happened at Judges’ Quarters in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, on Tuesday evening, drawing the attention of residents in the area.
One witness told The Guild, “People have been complaining about motorcycle theft here, and when they caught them, the crowd just reacted.”
However, as of press time, the Benue State Police Command had not released an official statement regarding the killings. The bodies of the deceased were later removed from the scene by authorities.
