Lumiegee eyes bolder Afrobeats future after 10yrs on stage

After a decade defined more by discipline than drama, United Kingdom-based Nigerian recording artist, audio engineer and songwriter, Olumide D’Goke Adeisa, popularly called Lumiegee, has indicated plans to position himself towards achieving more accolades in the industry.

He set the target for himself after his latest single, Yehba (2025), earned him a new award, increasing the number of awards and recognitions receiving on Ayami-Mamami and Amoniseni.

The artist stated this on yesterday through a statement released by his media aide to newsmen.

He described the honours as an affirmation of his growing international footprint, supported by platforms and audiences across Nigeria, the UK and the United States.

Lumiegee, who has spent the past 10 years quietly building a catalogue rooted in melody, groove and technical finesse, distinguished himself not through viral spectacle, but through steady evolution — blending Afropop vibrancy with the precision of a formally trained sound engineer.

With a background in engineering and formal audio training in the United Kingdom, it was gathered that Lumiegee’s music carries a polished sensibility that has become central to his brand.

Each release reveals careful attention to arrangement, vocal layering and production balance, hallmarks of someone who understands music beyond performance.

It would be recalled that early singles such as Love Miami and WhyInogplay introduced his melodic instincts, while later tracks, including Fight4me and If U Fit, sharpened his sonic identity.

His 2019 EP, Love Matters, further established his ability to craft emotionally resonant Afropop built on smooth rhythms and relatable storytelling.

Commercial momentum followed in 2021 with BBG (Big Bootie Gurl), a dancefloor-ready track that widened his audience without sacrificing studio sophistication.

The song struck a careful balance between mainstream appeal and technical refinement, reinforcing his reputation as a methodical hitmaker.

His latest single, Yehba (2025), marks another milestone. Fusing Afropop with R&B textures, the track subtly nods to Nigerian greats such as King Sunny Ade and Fela Kuti, while remaining firmly contemporary.

Its music video, filmed at St Dunstan in the East in London, visually bridges African romance and British heritage — a symbolic reflection of Afrobeats’ global expansion and Lumiegee’s own cross-continental journey.
