By Felix Kuyinu

The Lebanese parliamentary arm has postponed it’s election over the ongoing middle-east war between Israel and Iran.

The parliamentarians postponed the poll by two years as against the initial May schedule, stating that measure is to ensure that peace and tranquility when the election would be held.

The members, on Monday, disclosed.that the country was drawn into the Middle East war last week when Hezbollah attacked Israel in response to the killing of Iranian Supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, during US-Israeli strikes.

They held that the move to delay the polls came as the Lebanese government expressed their interest to disarm the Hezbollah.

This would be the the the fourth time the country will postpone the legislative election having done so in 2013 and 2014, citing political divisions in Lebanon stemming from the war in neighbouring Syria, and a third time in 2017 due to a dispute over the electoral law.
