Lagos State Christian pilgrims on the 2025 holy pilgrimage have begun a spiritually enriching tour of key biblical sites in Jordan, ahead of their scheduled entry into Israel.
As gathered, the pilgrims were expected to proceed to Israel on the third day of the pilgrimage, where they would continue visits to sacred Christian heritage sites, marking the next phase of their faith-filled journey.
The pilgrims, participating in a 10-day pilgrimage exercise, commenced site visits with stops at Mount Nebo, the ancient Fortress of Machaerus (Mukawir), and the Dead Sea.
During the visit to Mount Nebo, the pilgrims reflected on the biblical account of Moses viewing the Promised Land of Canaan. They admired the Brazen Serpent Monument, symbolising the bronze serpent Moses fashioned for the Israelites’ healing.
The journey continued to Machaerus, the historic hilltop fortress built by Herod the Great, renowned as the site where John the Baptist was imprisoned and beheaded.
The pilgrims also visited the Dead Sea, the lowest point on Earth, where they marveled at its unique natural features and historical significance.
Throughout the tour, the Secretary of the Lagos State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Gbolabo Okudero, with the support of operational staff, ensured a smooth and well-coordinated exercise, prioritising the safety, welfare, and spiritual well-being of the pilgrims.
Many participants have shared resounding testimonies, expressing gratitude to God for a successful and impactful experience so far.
Prayers and praise sessions were held at every pilgrimage site, with intercessions offered for the pilgrims, Lagos State Government, and the nation at large.
Devotional activities were also observed daily, both in the mornings and evenings, while worship and prayer continued aboard buses en route to the various locations, reinforcing the spiritual atmosphere of the journey.
