Concerned by the death toll recorded after the joint invasion of Iran by the United States and Israel, Muslims under the group, the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), have marched across the streets of Lagos, protesting against the attacks that resulted in the death of Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Khamenei.
The protesters, who were armed with Iranian flags, condemned the sudden attack on Iran amid negotiations on the usage of nuclear production and weapons.
The Muslims commenced the demonstration in Maryland axis of Lagos on Monday, requesting that the U.S and Israel stop their attacks in Iran and that the Federal Government join other world leaders in condemning the act.
South West coordinator of IMN, Muftau Zakariya, said the protest is to register their concerns over the sustained Invasion of sovereign nations by the Trump administration, citing recent instances of Venezuela’s Invasion and seizure of the country’s president and energy infrastructure.
Zakariya also claimed that terrorism in Nigeria is on the rise since the intervention of the US government.
He said the heightened and sustained attack in Kwara state is coming after the US involvement in the country’s affairs.
“I said to you that nothing good is coming from the US intervention. It is only interested in their economic gains and not minding the consequences thereafter “, he said.
Another leader of the movement, Muhammadu Bashir, said the protest is a means of registering their concerns over the killing of Iranian leaders.
He said the protest would remain peaceful but would be sustained across the region to gather more support for Iranians.
