Ahead of the July 12 local government election in Lagos, the State’s chapter of the Labour Party (LP), has assured chairmanship and councillor aspirants of free, fair and credible primary in the state.
The party said that the mode adopted for the primary would ensure that credible candidate emerge to represent the party during the local government elections billed for July 12. 2025.
Chairman of the state’s chapter, Dayo Ekong, who disclosed this to newsmen on Thursday, said that the primary scheduled for Friday 16, would be held in 57 local government areas and Local Council Development Area (LCDAs).
Ekong, while mentioning that the counselorship primaries will be held today, stressed that the party will adopt the delegate-based mode during the exercise.
“Our councilorship primaries will hold today (Thursday) across all the wards, while the chairmanship primaries will be held on Friday in all the local government areas,” Ekong said.
“We are committed to free, fair and transparent primary elections. We are confident of a good outing in the election”.
The party leader urged all stakeholders to abide by the principles of credible election and upholding proper conduct and a show of sportsmanship during and after the election.
