The Chairman, Inter-Parliamentary Committee of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rotimi Abiru, has identified peaceful co-existence as a major solution towards addressing Nigeria’s challenges.
Abiru, who currently represents Shomolu Constituency II at the assembly, added that if Nigerians love one another irrespective of the circumstances confronting them, the country would surmount its challenges.
The lawmaker, who made the appeal in his Christmas message that was made available to The Guild yesterday, noted that God created humanity for the purpose of peace and love.
He stressed that these were some of the messages preached and practiced by Jesus Christ while on earth and that the current challenges confronting Nigeria required that the tenets be imbibed to attain a better society for all.
According to him, at this time, Nigerians needed to reflect on the Christlike virtues and imbibe them in their dealings with one another.
“Those virtues are solutions that not only Nigeria but the world required to address the numerous challenges that are currently confronting the world”, he added.
The lawmaker, meanwhile, congratulated the state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for his quick recovery after contracting COVID-19 through community transmission in the state.
While noting that the pandemic has crippled the global economy and claiming lives, he appealed to Nigerians particularly Lagosians to adhere strictly to protocols released by medical experts as announced by the governor during and after the Yuletide.
The lawmaker congratulated the people of Bariga, his constituency, Lagosians, and Nigerians for being alive to celebrate Christmas considering numerous challenges faced in the year 2020.
