The Lagos State Government has concluded plans to prosecute 15 young men apprehended for contravening the environmental laws and peddling prohibited drugs around Agege Local Government Area of the state.
They were apprehended by the Lagos Taskforce officers during an operation to clean up public places within the council which have been taken over by miscreants to perpetrate unlawful acts.
As gathered, these suspects and other young men, who were said to have fled after sighting the law enforcement officers, were linked to the breach of peace and environmental degradation recorded around Agege.
The Commissioner for Environment, Tokunbo Wahab, who confirmed the arrest and planned prosecution on Thursday through a statement made available to newsmen, stated that the violators were apprehended during a night operation.
Wahab explained that the Taskforce officers stormed the axis and apprehended the suspects at Isale-Oja and AP roundabout areas in Agege, where the accused street urchins were caught with several undesirable objects and substances of drugs of different types.
”In continuation of the clean up enforcement operation to get rid of criminal elements, the Lagos State Taskforce, at about 6pm on Monday 12th, 2025 embarked on its ongoing enforcement in Agege area.
”15 male suspects were arrested with substances and undesirable elements were noticed and recovered. All the suspects will be charged to court accordingly”.
He added that in Lagos State, under the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, would continue to create an unfavourable environment for hoodlums who fail to adhere to the laws of the state.
Meanwhile, he enjoined all the residents to shun all criminal activities which could result in a breakdown of orderliness, advising them to imbibe good conducts for more developments in the state
