The Lagos State Government, through the Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), has stepped up enforcement against environmental offenders by sealing a church and two other establishments for contravening the state’s noise and air pollution standards.
The facilities were sealed on College Road, Ifako-Ijaiye, and LASU-Isheri Road, Igando, due to repeated violations, including noise pollution and other breaches of environmental regulations.
Among the establishments sealed for contravening the state’s environmental laws were Cherubim and Seraphim (King of Kings) Church for noise pollution, a fufu-making shop for heat radiation and air pollution, and Tyonex Nigeria Limited for environmental nuisance.

The General Manager of LASEPA, Babatunde Ajayi, highlighted the importance of the operation in protecting both public health and the environment.
Ajayi added that the action is part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to restore environmental order and ensure compliance with regulations designed to protect residents from harmful practices.
The LASEPA boss specifically criticised Cherubim and Seraphim (King of Kings) Church for operating illegally within a residential estate, Georgius Cole Estate, Ifako-Ijaiye, despite several complaints from residents about persistent noise disturbances.
He warned that while there is freedom of worship in the state, no individual or group is allowed to infringe upon the rights of others or negatively impact their health in the name of religious activities.
Ajayi urged residents and business owners to comply with government regulations, reaffirming the agency’s zero-tolerance policy for noise and other forms of pollution across Lagos State.
