As part of sustained efforts to restore order and ensure the free flow of traffic along the Badagry Expressway corridor, the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Agency (LAGESA) has commenced comprehensive clearance operations along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway.
The exercise targets illegal structures, roadside obstructions, indiscriminate waste dumping, and activities that encroach on road setbacks and pedestrian walkways.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, announced that clearance operations commenced at Alakija in Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area.
He explained that the exercise has since progressed through the Iyana Iba axis and is presently ongoing opposite Lagos State University (LASU), with sustained enforcement also being carried out at Alaba Market along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway.
According to the commissioner, the operation is part of the Lagos State Government’s renewed drive to eliminate illegal structures and other obstructions, restore order and sanity along the corridor, and facilitate the smooth flow of vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
Wahab stressed that the exercise also reinforces compliance with environmental sanitation standards and urban planning regulations, in line with the state’s commitment to creating a cleaner, safer, and more orderly environment.
“The exercise is aimed at removing illegal structures, clearing obstructions, and restoring order and free flow of traffic along the corridor,” he added.
