The Lagos State Government has released new charges for Bus Rapid Transit, BRT, fares following an announced 13 percent increase.
The government, through its Metropolitan Area Transport Authority, LAMATA, stated that the price hike aimed at regulating public transport operations over raised concerns in its costs driven by economic pressures, became necessary to ensure sustainability of the government’s transport system.
LAMATA, on Tuesday, informed that the measure which takes effect from March 2, will charge N1,140 on commuters plying Igando to Obalende. Mile 12 to Yaba, TBS, passengers will begin to pay N690, Igbogbo to Marina, Badagry en-route to Mile 2 commuters will pay N1,140.
Ikorodu to Alausa passengers will be charged N800, Ikotun to Marina, N1,100, Ayobo to Obalende, N1,260, as well as Ikotun to Ikeja, 630.
