The Lagos State Government has disclosed that its plan to revamp the transportation sector is anchored on innovative ideas and smart technologies aimed at improving efficiency and the commuter experience.
It emphasized that leveraging technology and data-driven solutions is key to creating a transport system that responds to the real needs of residents and supports the city’s growing population.
The government highlighted this commitment while commending Bolt for unveiling its Ride-Hailing Safety Perception Report in Ikeja, Lagos.
During the event on Thursday, the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, noted that insights from such reports can guide policy, enhance commuter safety, and strengthen the city’s transport ecosystem.
Represented by the Director of Transport Operations, Olasunkanmi Ojowuro, the commissioner emphasized the critical role of innovation in shaping the future of transportation in the state and expressed the government’s readiness to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to build a transport ecosystem anchored on safety, accountability, and innovation.
Highlighting a key aspect of the initiative, he stressed the need for accurate and reliable data to support effective planning, regulation, and enforcement within the sector.
Osiyemi also underscored the importance of Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) and collaborations to strengthen the state’s transport data system, making it more robust, responsive, and intelligent.
The commissioner further noted that the state government looks forward to deeper collaboration with all e-hailing platforms to achieve a safer, data-driven, and future-ready mobility system, with innovation at its core, for a brighter and more efficient transportation future.
