Lagos Govt. begins knowledge exchange session among staff

By Monsurudeen Olowoopejo

In a bid to boost productivity among staff, the Lagos State Government has kicked started knowledge exchange sessions among junior and senior staff in the state.

As gathered, the sessions were initiated among staff particularly those in the Ministry of Establishments, Training and Pensions, to empower one another through on the job training.

The Guild learnt that the special in-house programme called, ‘Knowledge-Sharing Session’,  started last September and was designed to empower staff with prerequisite knowledge on their daily responsibilities

The programme, an interactive session, would take place every first Monday of the week and participation, which is strictly for staff of the Ministry, cuts across all cadres.

This week’s edition, which took place in the Conference Room of the Ministry had over 30 members of staff in attendance, including the Permanent Secretary, Dr Abiodun Onayele, and other Directors of the Ministry.

Whilst admonishing staff to take the programme more seriously, Onayele stated that the programme was unique and peculiar because other ministries have not had the opportunity of hosting a programme such as this.

The Permanent Secretary disclosed that members of staff have benefitted immensely from the initiative since it began about a month ago considering the value the initiative had on the workers, adding that topics that had been featured transcend health, professional, social and economic spheres.

Whilst welcoming members of Staff to the week’s edition of the programme, the Director of Training, Lolade Aina, stated the programme started as a departmental initiative and grew bigger to accommodate all the staff of the ministry.

To underscore the significance and benefit of the programme, Aina expressed confidence that other ministries, departments and agencies would likely want to have the programme replicated in their domain as soon as they get wind of it.
