Lagos former Council chairman dies weeks to 65th birthday

The former chairman of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government, Oloruntoba Oke, has been confirmed dead after a brief illness at the age of 64.

The deceased former chairman, who was the National Treasurer of the South West Agenda for Asiwaju (SWAGA), was said to have passed on weeks before his 65th birthday which was scheduled for April 30th, 2025.

The Chairman of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government, Usman Hamzat, who confirmed the development, described his predecessor’s death as a shock considering Oke’s contribution to the council’s growth.

He acknowledged the immense experience and unwavering service that the deceased had rendered to Ifako-Ijaiye in recent years.

“On behalf of the Government and the good people of Ifako-Ijaiye, I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, relatives, political associates, and all residents of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Area. We pray that God will grant us the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.

“Oke will be greatly missed for his strategic insight, political wisdom, and vast experience, which were invaluable to our community.

“May God grant his family, loved ones, and political associates the strength to bear this irreplaceable loss and may his gentle soul rest in perfect peace”, he added.
