Lagos court jails businessman 2yrs for drug trafficking

A businesman, Gali Shehu, has been sentenced to two years imprisonement over offences of drug trafficking.

Justice Alexander Owoeye gave the injunction at the Federal High Court in Lagos after being put on one-count charge of drug trafficking, which he pleaded guilty.

At the court sitting on Thursday, the Prosecutor, Juliana Negedu, said that the convict committed the offence on December 2, 2025 at the Alaba Rago area in Lagos State, where he had two kilogrammes of Cannabis Sativa without lawful authority.

Negedu said that Shehu was apprehended by the National Drug and Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA,.following a tip off, adding that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 11 (c) of the NDLEA Act, Cap. N30 Law of the Federation 2004. NAN

He reviewed the facts of the case before the court and tendered several exhibits as evidence in support of the prosecution’s case, urging the court to proceed and convict the defendant based on his plea and evidences tendered.

Consequently, the court found the defendant guilty and sentenced him accordingly witb an option of N300,000 fine.
