The Lagos State House of Assembly has tasked the Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led administration to setup an online information management system across all ministries, departments and agencies in the state, saying that such is needed to provide prompt, accurate and easily accessible information to Lagosians on their activities.
According to the lawmakers, it had become imperative that the citizens of the state be able to monitor MDA’s and get necessary information about the daily activities of people entrusted with leadership of the state, and that technological advancements have made it in such a way that such platforms could be easily established and furnished for public consumption.
The lawmakers made the call during the House of Assembly plenary session on Tuesday, added that the online platform would ensure government activities are carried out in openness and transparently, thus averting advent of rumours and allegations which could be brought up as result of inadequate passage of information from government to the people.
The House called on the Governor to direct the commissioner for Science and Technology and the Director General of Records & Archives Bureau to establish the platform which would be responsible for necessary information management system across all MDA’s, staing that such was in keeping with expected processes of in the era of digitization.
“We are a Government of the people, so Lagosians should have easy access to information on the daily running of all state parastatals and all institutions of Government,”
“This mandate is for the citizens, we need to report to them adequately, transparently and easily”.
