By Felix Kuyinu

English footballer, Kyle Walker, has announced his retirement from international football.

Walker disclosed his retirement, announcing that it takes immediate effect having featured for the national team in five major events since making his debut for the Three Lions in 2009.

The Burnley right back made the disclosure on Tuesday saying, “I am sad to be making this decision, but I’m also very proud of what I’ve achieved with England,

“Playing for England has always been the biggest honour of my career and something I will always be proud of.”

The 35-year-old represented the British country 96 times, the last of those caps coming in a friendly against Senegal at the City Ground in June 2025.

Walker’s decision means he will not be part of the England squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup to be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Throughout his club career, he has played for several teams, including Sheffield United, Northampton Town, Tottenham Hotspur, Queens Park Rangers, Aston Villa, most significantly, Manchester City, as well as AC Milan, and currently Burnley.
