Kogi PDP vows to seize power from APC

By Helen Okoli.

The Chairman of the Kogi State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Muhammed Gambo, declared the party’s determination to seize control of Lugard House from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and unseat Governor Usman Ododo during the 2027 governorship elections.

Gambo, who emphasized that the PDP must triumph in the coming election, asserted that the APC’s tenure is nearing its end, urging residents to remain loyal to the PDP amid promises of restored prosperity and strengthened party structures.

The statement, released on Friday in Lokoja, reflected the PDP’s confidence rooted in its historical dominance and criticisms of current governance challenges, including insecurity.

Gambo described the APC as “people living in a rented apartment” and insisted, “The All Progressives Congress’s time is up. Kogi people should remain faithful to the PDP, given the party’s strong structures and past record of prosperity in the state.”

“Kogi is a PDP state. Our structures are strong across the state and Nigeria. In a free and fair election, the PDP will win by a landslide.”

The party chairman urged calmness, recalling PDP’s past governance as a time of prosperity and stating, “Let me say that the time for the APC government to pack their load from Lugard House is 2027. It is a call for no retreat, no surrender.”

On security, he noted, “It is unfortunate that insecurity has overwhelmed us as a people. We, as a party, are willing to collaborate with the government on security, because there must be a state before any political party.”

The chairman appealed for peace, lawfulness, and citizen support for security efforts while expressing PDP’s national ambitions, including retaking Aso Rock.
