Governor Abba Yusuf has removed the Kano State Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa, from office with immediate effect over poor performance, as part of efforts to strengthen efficiency within the state civil service.
The decision signals the administration’s move to reform the state bureaucracy and improve discipline, productivity, and service delivery across government institutions.
Details of the directive were contained in a statement issued Tuesday evening by the Director-General, Media and Publicity, Government House Kano, Sunusi Tofa.
According to the state government, the removal forms part of ongoing institutional adjustments aimed at repositioning the civil service to function more effectively and support the policy direction of the current administration.
Governor Yusuf, however, acknowledged the former Head of Service’s tenure and expressed appreciation for his contributions to the state’s public service.
“We appreciate his dedication and the services he rendered to Kano State during his tenure,” the governor said.
“We wish him success in his future endeavours and pray for continued progress in all aspects of his life.”
Following the development, the governor approved the appointment of Bilkisu Maimota, the Permanent Secretary in charge of Administration and General Services at the Cabinet Office, as Acting Head of Service pending the appointment of a substantive replacement.
The outgoing Head of Service has been directed to immediately hand over the responsibilities and official documents of the office to the acting Head of Service.
