Just In: Oba of Lagos palace, Igbosere court, NPA office, others under attack

The Oba of Lagos, Riliwanu Akiolu’s palace, and the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) office in Marina have been attacked by hoodlums that were said to have hijacked ongoing protest against brutality and extra-judicial killing by dissolved Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), a formation of the Nigerian Police.

Other facilities attacked by the angry youths were said to include the High Court in Igbosere, Lagos Island, and that item worth several millions of naira were destroyed.

As gathered, trouble started on Wednesday when the irate youths stormed Akinolu’s palace located at Iga Idugaran, Lagos Island, destroying valuables in sight, including vehicles and artefacts that could not be carted away.

The monarch, it was reliably learnt, escaped the mob attack through armed military personnel who came to rescue him from the palace after other residents deserted the area.

The hoodlums who carted away several artefacts were also seen in a video clip released online, running out of the place with Akinolu’s staff of office, known as ‘Opa Ase’.

Also, the NPA headquarters was said to have been set ablaze after by hoodlums who invaded the premises after they allowed the workers on duty to vacate the premises.
