JUST IN: Lagos PDP chairman dies of COVID-19 complications

The chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Lagos Chapter, Dr. Adegbola Dominic, has been reported to have died of Coronavirus complications in the state.

Dominic, who was also the Medical Director of Santa Maria Hospital in the state, was said to have died after contracting the virus and was placed under isolation as stipulated by the Federal and Lagos State Government.

The development was confirmed by the Publicity Secretary for the party in the state, Taofik Gani, on Wednesday, through a statement made available to newsmen, just as he described the former chairman’s death as a rude shock to members of PDP.

Gani, who further described the Dominic’s death as martyr, added: “Our chairman was dogged about the emancipation of the oppressed, pauperized and less privileged”.

According to him, Our former chairman stood for the development of Lagos state and he regrets that this state is not yet where he wished it is.

“He will be forever remembered in Lagos Politics. We condole with his family. All PDP flags In the state shall fly at half-mast. All PDP meetings at this time are to be prayers for him”.

While disclosing that the burial arrangements would be announced by the family, the publicity secretary stated that Dominic was an exceptional politician who had deployed much of his hard-earned money into philanthropism.

“He had held many political positions, notable amongst being State Social Democratic Party (SDP) officer; State Chairman of PAC; National Chairman of APN (Founded by Lagos State former governor, late Lateef Jakande); State Chairman of Lagos PDP.

“Dominic had also contested Lagos state governorship under the platform of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). He was the Jakande group candidate for the Lagos-West senatorial primary of the SDP, a contest between him and (National leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC), Bola Tinubu”.
