The Lagos State Government through its Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has commenced the passenger test-run of the 37 kilometers Red rail line.
The rail line which starts from Agbado and ends in Oyingbo, has eight stations, namely Agbado, Iju, Agege, Ikeja, Oshodi, Mushin, Yaba and Oyingbo.
The passenger test-run kicked off barely four months after President Bola Tinubu commissioned the transport facility, to reduce Lagosians dependency on road transportation in the state.
The Managing Director, LAMATA, Abimbola Akinajo, disclosed this on Tuesday during a media parley organised by the State’s ministry of transportation in Ikeja.
Akinajo, who was represented by Olasunkanmi Odusanya, stressed that efforts were being made to ensure that the train begins full operations at the end of the 3rd quarter of the year.
She noted that during this period, the train will a long the corridor operate four trips daily with two in the morning and two during afternoon belt.
According to her, In the Morning, the train will move from Oyingbo Station (Ebute Metta) by 8:30am in the morning to arrive at Agbado Station by 9:37am
“The second trip will start from Agbado, the train will move by 10:30am back to Oyingbo 11:37am.
“For the afternoon period, the trip will start by 12:40 from Oyingbo Station to Agbado Station by 13:47 pm while the final trip will begin from Agbado by 14:50 pm back to Oyingbo Station 15:50
“The trains will carry different groups of passengers for the testing period with the hope of getting feedback from their experience.
