Following the allegations that have continued to trailed the chairman and councillorship primaries organised by the Lagos chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the party has inaugurated an appeal committee to look into the alleged malpractices, manipulation and allegations raised by the aspirants and delegates who participated in the primaries in the state.

To lead the committee, the party appointed the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Lawal Pedro, to chair the committee empowered to review all allegations and address the needs of aggrieved party members and aspirants vying to be the Lagos APC flagbearer for the council poll scheduled for July 12, 2025.

Other members of the committee inaugurated by the party on Monday were Abiodun Olufowobi who would serve as the Secretary while former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Jokotola Pelumi, a former lawmaker, Lanre Ogunyemi, and State Secretary of the party, Chukwudi Adiukwu.

Confirming the developments amid protests by aspirants and party members, the State Publicity Secretary, Oluseye Oladejo, said that the committee’s role is to address all grievances that party members may have against the primary that has produced 55 candidates for the Local Government election in the state.

Oladejo added that aggrieved members and aspirants should submit their appeals “to the committee not later than 12noon on Tuesday 13th May, 2025”.

This came hours after chieftains of the party in Egbe-Idimu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Onigbongbo, Shomolu, and others have kicked against the chairmanship primary that confirmed Idris Bello and 54 others as the flagbearer for the party.

They described the process that produced the 55 candidates as a sham and appealed that President Bola Tinubu intervene to address the alleged irregularities that trailed the exercise at the party secretariat in Ogba axis of the state.

The leaders added that the LG primaries held at the party secretariat in Ikeja should be cancelled to avoid any crisis and possible defection from the party.

According to them, “Why asked the delegates to leave the premises instead of waiting to see their votes count. You brought out ballot boxes after those that voted have left, no one was available to testify to what they wrote on the ballot papers. You counted what suits you because you know the game you were playing”.
