The Kebbi State House of Assembly has removed the speaker, Abdulmuminu Kamba, and his Deputy, Muhammad Alieru, over alleged offences that were against the House rules.
Both Speaker and his deputy have been replaced by other members of the House, Muhammad Lolo as the new speaker while Usman Zuru, was picked by his colleagues as the deputy.
They were impeached by a two-third majority on Tuesday after a closed-door plenary that lasted for several minutes with security beefed up around the premises.
In a letter signed and made available to newsmen by the clerk of the house, Usman Bunza, said that the two house leaders were found to have committed impeachable offences while in office.
Bunza added that to avoid chaos, the house decided that they should be removed from their post and be replaced by other lawmakers that could lead the House effectively.
