JUST IN: Ireland actor quits UK dance competition over illness

Ireland actor, Kristian Nairn, who became famous following his role in the Game of Thrones, has pulled out from the 2025 edition of the British Television dance competition, Strictly Come Dancing, over health challenges.

The actor, who is also Disc Jockey (DJ) was set to compete for the Glitterball Trophy this year, but the health challenge has caused him to reconsider plans.

In a statement released on Thursday, Nairn said: “With a heavy heart, I have to step back from this season of Strictly Come Dancing due to unexpected medical reasons. I was truly looking forward to the journey, and I’m deeply sorry to disappoint anyone who was looking forward to seeing me on the dance floor.”

“Thank you all for your support, and I will be back on my feet very soon, in every sense. Love to all, Kristian.”

BBC Studios’ executive producer, Sarah James, also addressed the decision and said: “We’ve absolutely loved getting to know Kristian in this short time, and he has all the makings of a brilliant Strictly Come Dancing contestant. We’re incredibly sorry to lose him from this year’s series and we all wish him a speedy recovery.”

According to reports, a new celebrity will be joining the Strictly lineup and their identity will be revealed on The One Show on 21 August at 7pm.
