Atleast five persons including children were confirmed to have been killed and dozens of others sustaining varying degrees of injuries when suspected Fulani herdsmen attacked a community in Igangan axis of Ibarapa North Local Government Area, Oyo State,
Aside from the casualties recorded during the attack that lasted for several minutes, houses of the deceased, vehicles motorcycles, and A fuel station were said to have been set ablaze by the perpetrators.
As gathered, the herdsmen stormed the community and attacked the victims in the early hours on Sunday, particularly when the deceased residents were still asleep and killed them.
The attack came barely 24 hours after the suspected herdsmen attacked a Benin Republic farmer identified as Kaptain Kaston, in Idiyan, a village near Igangan, inflicting injuries on the 28-year-old.

Confirming the attack, the State Governor, Seyi Makinde, condemned the actions and appealed to residents as well as families of the victims to remain calm, assuring that efforts were already been made to arrest the perpetrators.
Makinde said: “I have received the shocking news of the attacks on residents of Igangan, Ibarapaland, in the early hours of this morning. I am currently being briefed on the incidents. I urge residents to remain calm as security operatives are now in control of the situation”.
