JUST IN: Gunmen kill Sowore’s brother in Edo

The publisher of online media platform, Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore’s immediate younger brother, Olajide, has been reported to have been killed by gunmen in Edo State.

As gathered, the gunmen, who were said to be suspected Fulani herdsmen, attacked and killed the activist younger brother along Okada road in Edo State

It was learnt that the deceased, an undergraduate at the Igbinedion University in Okada, Edo State, was returning from school when the gunmen attacked him and took his life.

The Guild further gathered that the Sahara Reporters publisher’s younger brother, a studying pharmacy at the institution, was also an artiste that had entertained many with his brand of music.

Speaking on his brother’s murder on Saturday, the Sahara Reporters publisher described the murder of Olajide as gruesome and a sad day in his life, meanwhile appealed to the Nigerian Police and other security agencies to fish out the perpetrators.

He hinted that the deceased, who he described as Dr. Mamiye!, was looking forward to celebrate his 50th birthday before he was murder while trying to acquire knowledge in the country.

In a tribute on the deceased, Sowore, the Convener of RevolutionNow, a movement for the restructuring of Nigeria, said: “I traveled widely with you and our father as a little kid. You were the most loved robust kid I ever first knew. You, Mr. magnet had no enemy!

“You, Mr. Sunshine Foundation who made everyone happy. You, the boy who snuck out his older ones to parties, taking all the blames when our disciplinarian father found out.

“You, the guy who was an out-of-the-box thinker who decided school wasn’t for you and created you own genre of music and then turned around to go to school after you almost turned 50!

“You lived your life so that everyone could be alright but now assassinated by everything that’s not alright!” the convener added.
