A serving member of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Laven Jacob, was reportedly abducted by a group of armed men suspected to be bandits after they invaded his residence in Jos North Local Government Area.
Jacob, who represents the Panshin South constituency in the Plateau Assembly, is said to have been kidnapped from his Angwan Kagji home in the Dong area of the state.
A close aide of the lawmaker, who served with him while he was vice chairman of Pankshin Local Government Area, said the incident occurred around 7:30 PM yesterday.
According to the aide, three masked men whisked the lawmaker away at the entrance of his gate while he was waiting for his security guard to open it.
As of this report, state authorities and security agencies have not issued an official statement regarding the abduction.
Efforts are ongoing to verify whether contact has been established with the kidnappers or if any ransom demands have been made.
