JUST IN: Fubara returns to Rivers after emergency rule lifted

The Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has returned to Port Harcourt, the state capital, barely two days after President Bola Tinubu lifted the emergency rule imposed to restore peace between the arms of government within the state.

Fubara returned to the state along with the Deputy governor, Prof. Ngozi Odu, to resume work six months after they were suspended by the president who imposed an emergency rule on the state.

The governor and his deputy landed at the Port Harcourt airport on Friday in a private jet at about 11:50 am where dozens of senior government officials and chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party were waiting accompany him to the State House.

After exchanging pleasantries with his supporters at the VIP wing of the Airport, he went into one of the vehicles in his convoy and departed.

This came barely 24 hours after supporters of the governor trooped to the Government House, Port Harcourt, to welcome him back after the 6-month suspension, however, they dispersed after waiting for several hours.
