JUST IN: Flying Eagles beats Egypt 1-0 during U-20 Arican nations cup

After suffering a disappointing defeat during their first game, the Nigerian U-20 football team, the Flying Eagles, has recorded a victory in their second game following their 1-0 win against the host, Egypt.

The Nigerian team recorded the victory through Solomon Agbalaka goal scored in the 71st minute of the game after jumping to meet Mohammed Aminu’s cross in the Egyptian box.

During the Group A encounter played on Wednesday, a bullet header by the Nigerian side secured the needed victory in the first point of the championship over the host team in the second group match between the two winless sides.

The Young Pharaohs created numerous chances to go in front, but they lacked the cutting edge to convert the opportunities at the Africa Under-20 Nations Cup Group (AFCON).

With the victory, the Nigerian team moved to the second spot on the log with a three-point,c closely following the Senegalese team that had won all matches recording six points.

The hosts were held to a goalless draw by Mozambique in the tournament opener and now sit in third place with a solitary point ahead of Saturday’s must-win match against high-flying Senegal.
