As part of the federal government’s efforts to address the University College Hospital (UCH) more than three-month power outage, the Minister for Power, Bayo Adelabu, and the Managing Director of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) have started a meeting to resolve the power supply crisis that has crippled services within the medical facility.
The meeting aims to find a lasting solution to the power challenge which has affected the hospital’s operations, including laboratory tests, surgeries, and patient care.
The electricity crisis is attributed to the hospital’s disconnection from the national grid by IBEDC over an outstanding debt of about N500 million.
The hospital has been cut of from the grid since October 2024, which has severely impacted its ability to provide quality medical care.
