Determined to stop crude oil theft and boost production in Nigeria, the Federal Government has dismantled 1,978 refineries operating illegally across the Niger Delta region of the country within the last two years.
Aside from that, the apex government through the military has destroyed 3,773 illegal cooking ovens and 3,849 dugouts during the period under review around the region.
Meanwhile, the central government disclosed that the troops deployed to the Northern states particularly the northeast region of the country have killed over 13,543 terrorists and other criminal elements since May 2023.
The National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, disclosed this on Thursday at the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Policy and Development Summit held at the State House Banquet Hall in Abuja.
According to him, no fewer than 124,408 fighters of Boko Haram and its offshoot, the Islamic State in West Africa Province, along with their family members, have surrendered to Nigerian forces and are undergoing rehabilitation through the government’s de-radicalisation and reintegration programme.
“We have so far recovered and destroyed 252,596 rounds of assorted ammunition. Our troops have neutralised 13,543 terrorists,” Ribadu said to an audience of top government officials and party chieftains.
He noted that the efforts have yielded a 47 percent of infractions alongside a healthy spike in production which rose to average 1.8 million Barrel Per Day in 2025.
The Special Adviser stressed that the achievements were testament to prove that Tinubu is working assiduously to mitigate the past hardship suffered by citizens in the country adding that the president is keen on ensuring he provides solace to all sundry.
Meanwhile, the President’s aide urged the citizenry to key into the plans put up by the APC to fully actualize the positive plans for the nation.
Ribadu appealed that the party faithfuls to fully support the President in the ongoing positive trends, as the political party aims to claim victory at local, state and federal levels at election time.
