The Magistrate Court sitting at Bolade, Oshodi has remanded eight staff of a popular restaurant, Yakoyo Abula Joint in Victoria Island, for attacking officials of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (KAI) during inspection at the firm’s premises.
The eight staff members of the restaurant, who were remanded by the Magistrate after pleading not guilty to the five count charge include two females and six males.
They are Ibiwunmi Oladunjoye – 30yrs (F), Sikiru Oyelami – 45yrs, Aja Daniel- 29yrs, Sanusi Abayomi – 31yrs, Timothy Emmanuel- 22yrs, Ajoke Adegoke – 24yrs (F), Sulaimon Akinbola- 28yrs and Ridwan Adeshina – 30yrs.
During the court proceedings on Thursday, barely 24 after the attack on the KAI officials in Sinari Adaranijo Street, Victoria Island, the suspects were arraigned by the State government in five count charges bordering on attempted murder and others.
After the charges were eead to them, the suspects pleaded not guilty and due to the inability of the Magistrate Court to sit over a murder case, the Magistrate remanded the eight staff till January 28, 2026.
The date was fixed pending when the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) will determine further proceedings on the allegations against the eight staff.
Our correspondents findings were further corroborated by the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab.
Wahab, in a statement made available to newsmen, said: “Following the arrest of 8 staff of Yakoyo Abula Joint in Sinari Adaranijo Street in Victoria Island who attacked the enforcement officers of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (KAI) while on official duty with LSWMO were arraigned before the Magistrate Court sitting at Bolade, Oshodi for attempted murder.
They pled not guilty and were remanded in correctional centre till 28 Jan 2026 awaiting DPP’s advice. They are: Ibiwunmi Oladunjoye – 30yrs (F). Sikiru Oyelami – 45yrs. Aja Daniel- 29yrs, Sanusi Abayomi – 31yrs, Timothy Emmanuel- 22yrs.
Ajoke Adegoke – 24yrs (F) Sulaimon Akinbola- 28yrs, and Ridwan Adeshina – 30yrs”.
