Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has granted bail to former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, his son Abdulaziz Malami, and his wife Asabe Bashir in the sum of N200 million each, with two sureties in like sum.
As part of the bail conditions, one of the sureties must submit the title deeds of properties in the highbrow districts of Maitama or Asokoro.
The defendants were also directed to surrender their international passports as part of the conditions for their temporary release.
Until the bail conditions are fully met, Malami, his wife, and their son will remain in the custody of the Nigerian Correctional Service.
The judge adjourned the case to March 16 to commence trial proceedings.
