Bandits terrorizing residents in vulnerable communities in Kwara State have reportedly abducted a prominent water factory owner from his business premises in Gbugbu, Edu Local Government Area of the state.
Eyewitnesses disclosed that the factory owner was whisked away by the armed men to an unknown destination after they invaded the Yashashi Pure Water factory in broad daylight.
The incident, which occurred on Thursday afternoon, has heightened fears over insecurity among residents and business owners in the area.
“The entire community is in shock. No one feels safe anymore; these kidnappings are happening far too often,” said a resident who spoke with The Guild’s correspondent over the phone.
The abduction of the Yashashi factory owner came barely two days after an overnight attack in Bokungi, Tsaragi community, where one person was killed and several cows were stolen.
According to reports, security concerns in Edu LGA have intensified in recent months, with multiple cases of armed raids disrupting daily life.
As of the time of filing this report, the state police command had yet to issue an official statement regarding the kidnapping, while community leaders are calling for immediate action to protect residents and prevent further violent incursions.
