The Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, has approved a proposed N75 billion Supplementary Budget for the 2025 fiscal year to boost critical sectors and sustain ongoing development programs across the state.
The supplementary budget was introduced to address new financial demands that have emerged since the beginning of the fiscal year and to ensure the uninterrupted execution of priority projects in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and agriculture.
The decision was reached at a State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Namadi. The proposal is now set to be forwarded to the Jigawa State House of Assembly for legislative consideration and possible approval.
The Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports, and Culture, Sagir Ahmad, told journalists after the meeting that the supplementary budget is structured to support both the state and local governments.
āOut of the total sum, N58 billion is earmarked for state-level projects, while N17 billion has been allocated to the 27 local government councils,ā he explained.
Ahmad added that the supplementary appropriation covers both recurrent and capital expenditures, noting that its structure reflects the administrationās commitment to strengthening the stateās economic foundation.
āThis budget is about sustaining progress and responding to the evolving needs of the Jigawa people. Governor Namadi remains committed to ensuring that resources are channelled toward impactful development,ā the commissioner said.
The proposal is set to undergo review by lawmakers at the Jigawa State House of Assembly, who are expected to deliberate on its passage in accordance with constitutional provisions.
