JAMB remits over N3bn as 2021 operating surplus

By News Desk

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has disclosed that it has remitted no fewer than N3.51 billion to the Federal Government’s cover as part of its 2021 operating surplus as part of the board’s transparency drive.

It explained that aside from the board’s transparency drive, the move was also in line with JAMB’s Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede’s avowed commitment to prudent management of public resources hinged on President Muhammadu Buhari’s anti-corruption fight.

The board’s  spokesperson, Dr Fabian Benjamin,  through a statement in Abuja on Wednesday, said that remittance was continuation of the JAMB boss transparency drive, a development, he said earned him his reappointment for second tenure.

According to him, commitment to probity coupled with the adoption of international best practices make for cost-effective operational processes and attendant savings to yield those humongous remittances to government coffers.

He said that this was the norm rather than the exception in the last six years beginning from 2016 when Oloyede remitted the whopping sum of N7 billion and repeated same in subsequent years.
