Iran launches strike on Israel after denying talks with U.S

Iran launched waves of missiles at Israel and American allies in the Gulf region, a day after U.S. President Donald Trump described “very good and productive” talks aimed at halting the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

On Tuesday, missile attacks triggered air raid sirens in Israel’s largest city, Tel Aviv, where gaping holes were reported in a multi-storey apartment building. It was unclear whether the damage was caused by a direct hit or debris from interception.

Israel’s Fire and Rescue Service said they were searching for civilians trapped in one building and found others sheltering in a nearby damaged structure. Homes in northern Israel also sustained damage from falling debris, though no deaths have been reported so far.

Kuwait said it responded to overnight drone and missile attacks, while Saudi Arabia intercepted more than 20 drones. Bahrain activated alert sirens as explosions rocked Iranian cities including Tehran, Tabriz, Isfahan, and Karaj through the night.

Israel’s military reported that its fighter jets carried out a large wave of strikes in central Tehran on Monday, targeting key command centers, including facilities linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ intelligence arm and the Intelligence Ministry. Over 50 additional targets were reportedly hit overnight, including ballistic missile storage and launch sites.

Air defence systems were activated across Tehran as explosions were heard simultaneously in multiple areas, according to Iranian news agency Nournews.

Trump said on Monday that he was postponing for five days a planned attack on Iran’s power plants, provided Tehran reopened the Strait of Hormuz. Iran had vowed to retaliate against such strikes by targeting the infrastructure of U.S. allies in the Middle East.
