Spanish tennis player, Carlos Alcaraz, has informed of his withdrawal from representing his country at the Davis Cup due to injury.
Alcaraz stated that the injury, a swelling in his hamstring, alongside an advice from medical practitioners urging him on the importance of managing the injury were reasons behind his withdrawal from joining his compatriots for the competition.
The world number one, who initially traveled to the Spanish training camp, said that he was heartbroken over his absence at the tournament but disclosed that his absence will further aid a speedy recovery so as to bounce back better than before.
Alcaraz, who lost to Jannick Sinner at the ATP Finals on Monday, said, ”I’m going home heartbroken. I’m feeling physical discomfort i n the back of my thigh but I will be back soon.”
He lost 7-6, 7-4 and 7-5 to Italian Sinner but still retained his apex position having reached the final courtesy of his three straight wins in the competition.
