The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has redeployed the Osun State Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) ahead of next year’s gubernatorial election in the state.
Four other RECs and four directors across the country were also redeployed by the electoral umpire as part of the commission’s routine administrative postings.
In the new postings, the REC in Osun State, Olusegun Agbaje, and his Ogun counterpart, Prof. AbdulGaniy Raji, have been directed by the commission to switch offices.
In the same vein, the REC in Bayelsa State, Dr Cyril Omorogbe, will take up his new role as the REC for Cross River State, while Dr. Emannuel Alex Hart, proceeds to Bayelsa State as the REC from his former office in Cross River State.
The Commission has also announced that the REC in Zamfara State, Dr. Asmau Maikudi, should proceed to Kaduna State and resume as the new electoral commissioner for the state.
Through a statement signed by the National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, on Sunday, INEC disclosed that the Director (Voter Education and Publicity), Nick Dazang, has proceeded on terminal leave.
Consequently, Victor Aluko, has been reassigned by the commission from his post as the Director of Administration to Voter Education and Publicity as Director.
INEC also redeployed Mikah Lakumna to Administration from his erstwhile position as Director (Security); Nduh Samson moves from the office of the Secretary to the Commission to Director (Security).
The Director in the Electoral Operations Department, Yakubu Duku, proceeds to Niger State as the substantive Administrative Secretary for the commission in the state.
The electoral umpire further directed the newly appointed officials and the former personnel to ensure prompt handing over activities and that the exercise should be completed by Monday, September 13.
