The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has revealed that over 9.8 million Nigerians completed online pre-registrations during the first quarter of its ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
The Commission stated that more than 2.5 million registrations have been fully completed through both online and in-person processes, reflecting strong public participation in strengthening the country’s voters’ register.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Victoria Eta-Messi, disclosed that of the fully completed registrations during the first quarter of the CVR exercise, 1,503,832 were processed online, while 1,068,222 were completed physically at registration centers across the country as of 28 November 2025.
She noted that the Commission will commence the Display of the Register of Voters for Claims and Objections from 15 to 21 December 2025 at the Local Government Offices where the registrations took place.
The Commission urged all eligible citizens, particularly those who registered, transferred, or updated their information during this phase, to take advantage of this statutory window to verify their details, report any inaccuracies, and highlight entries of ineligible or deceased persons, Eta-Messi stressed.
Eta-Messi emphasized that active public participation in this process is crucial for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the national Register of Voters.
The director, meanwhile, disclosed that the CVR exercise in Anambra State and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) remains suspended due to ongoing electoral activities in both locations.
She noted that the second phase of the CVR exercise will resume on 5 January 2026, while new dates for the resumption of the exercise in Anambra and the FCT will be communicated in due course.
INEC further reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a credible, inclusive, and transparent Register of Voters, and called on Nigerians to continue cooperating as the commission works to strengthen the country’s democracy.
